About

Organizer of the Jozef Czapski NOTO – the International Student Competition is the Department of Multimedia of the Faculty of Arts at the Pedagogical University of Krakow. The competition belongs to the broader NOTO ART project, which includes periodically organized exhibitions, meetings with authors and other artistic and scientific events. It is a unique artistic event. Its task is to popularize the idea of intimate notation. The presentation of notebooks through the Contest also allows for an atypical preview of current trends in art and social life of young artists. In three editions of the Competition in 2012, 2014 and 2016, about 400 students from all universities and art departments in Poland took part.

Exhibition

The exhibition of notebooks of young artists at the National Museum in Cracow is combined with the idea of disseminating the traditions of unique notations, sketches and creative concepts in the era of widespread use of digital media as a tool for immediate recording. The intimacy of contemporary manual quotes on paper harmonizes with the legacy of Józef Czapski, especially with his journals, kept by the National Museum in Krakow.

The exhibition will take place at the Czapski Pavilion at the Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Museum, a branch of the National Museum in Cracow, Józefa Piłsudskiego 12 street. Beginning in the second half of April 2018, it will be part of the Notebook Days in Krakow, an event organized since 2012 on the occasion of the subsequent editions of the NOTO Competition.
